Tagesexkursion zur Gedenkstätte Esterwegen

Am 5. Juli 2024 bieten die Professur für Neueste Geschichte und Historische Migrationsforschung gemeinsam mit der Professur für die Didaktik der Geschichte eine eintägige Exkursion zur Gedenkstätte Esterwegen an. Die Exkursion bietet Gelegenheit, die Dauerausstellung sowie Sonderausstellungen der Gedenkstätte im Innen- und Außenbereich kennen zu lernen, daneben geben uns die Mitarbeiter:innen der Gedenkstätte Esterwegen Einblicke in ihre Arbeitsfelder. Im Kontext eines Kooperationsprojekts zwischen der Gedenkstätte und den beiden veranstaltenden Professuren können die Teilnehmenden an der Digitalisierung von Objekten sowie einer Datenerhebung zur Emotionalisierung von Gedenkorten teilnehmen, und so einen Eindruck von geschichtswissenschaftlicher Feldforschung im Bereich der public history gewinnen.
Die Gedenkstätte Esterwegen dokumentiert am Ort des ehemaligen Konzentrations- und Strafgefangenenlagers Esterwegen die Geschichte der "Emslandlager".
Zwischen 1933 und 1945 unterhielt der NS-Staat im Emsland und in der Grafschaft Bentheim 15 Lager, die als Teil des Systems von SS, Justiz und Wehrmacht Orte des NS-Terrors waren. In den Lagern litten etwa 80.000 KZ-Häftlinge und Strafgefangene, während des Krieges kamen weit mehr als 100.000 Kriegsgefangene hinzu. Mehr als 20.000 Menschen aus verschiedenen europäischen Ländern sind in diesen Lagern umgekommen.
Es stehen 15 Plätze für Studierende zur Teilnahme an der Exkursion zur Verfügung. Treffpunkt für die Abfahrt zur Gedenkstätte ist der Eingangsbereich vor dem Gebäude 02 am 5. Juli um 8:30 Uhr. Die Rückkehr nach Osnabrück ist für ca. 17:30 Uhr geplant.
Im Museum besteht keine Möglichkeit zur Selbstverpflegung!
